Rasta Chill Beach Bar is Now Open

After a few short weeks of repairs and construction, Rasta Chill Beach Bar is finally open. This new location will serve as the main Rasta Chill hub throughout the high season, which is approaching. By the end of October, more and more visitors are due to arrive on the island and the oceanside bar is ready to accommodate.

The following photos are from the end of August when the bar was still under renovations and repairs. The Rasta Chill team was able to put everything together in a relatively short time and surpassed many obstacles to get there. One of the obstacles was a disillusioned landlord who found out his land was being rented out to Pi Neng without his permission. The middleman, or middle-woman actually, who sublet part of the land to Neng hadn't said a word to the landlord. Apparently, she owed some money to the landlord and thought she could pull this off in order to pay him back. Things didn't end up working out for her as she almost got kicked out altogether. Neng said he stepped in to convince the landlord to let her stay anyway.

Obviously, this incident upset all sides involved but thankfully the Rasta Chill project was allowed to continue following some renegotiations with the landlord. In fact, the landlord came to the opening night party on Saturday and seemed pleased with it all.

Then on Friday, the 2nd of September, Neng sent me the following photos alongside the announcement that the place was finally ready to open.

And the following Saturday saw the grand opening with a lot of Pi Neng's friends who came to support. Unfortunately, we had some trouble linking up my laptop to the sound system and so I had to use a smaller speaker. I saw a video of the event later on and thought it was funny how I was dancing and bouncing around as I DJed but you couldn't hear the music. The following photos are from Saturday night when I ended up DJing for about four hours.

We revisited the Beach Bar on Sunday as well. I was hoping to see more people there despite the heavy rains all day. In the end, the rain ended up winning and not many people came. I DJed for over an hour and that was it.
