Homemade Cheese


 Babaanne made homemade cheese. She was actually in the process of making yogurt but somehow the milk wasn't good and it came out much differently than usual. So she saved all that milk from going to waste by making cheese instead. It isn't salty at all because I think the folks at home avoid sodium chloride. I offered to call it Torbalı Cheese, based on the infamously named Bakırlı Cheese. However, babaanne preferred to give the cheese her own name, calling it Sare Cheese. 

Having somewhat of a pasty texture, it went very well with the fried eggplants, peppers,  and tomatoes. Eventually, I brought out the pickled oregano too. This photo was taken before all the usual suspects, such as the olives and honey, were brought out.
