Transition Underway

Last Saturday, we went back to the house under construction in Rattapoom. There were developments as always and as usual, they didn't meet our expectations. We're under the impression that everytime we go there, there's going to be massive developments and that the current phase no longer resembles the previous phases. However, that's not the case so we make ourselves content with the updates as they are.

We also started moving some boxes and things to the new location. These days, we're busy packing up our things everyday. I don't really have enough time or energy to make music. I look forward to when we finally get settled and I can get back into producing regularly. On top of the move to Rattapoom we're making, there's also another move underway. This will be a move in between moves. I will post more about this in the days to come. For now, let's focus on the main move.

The house under the vast sky is also a friend of the forest. Though it is true that a few trees had to be cut down to make space for the foundation and many other trees had to be cut down to supply the wood, the house is still surrounded by hundreds of trees. It's a very green area. I thank the trees that gave up their existence and transformed into something new for us to transform our lives into the next phase.

The contractor who's building the bathroom set up a station here in the factory on the same lot of land as the house. I've never showed the factory on the blog because the focus has been on the house. After we move in here, I'll probably show the old factory there as well.

This was the foundation for the two storey bathroom on Saturday. Unlike the rest of the house, the bathroom will be a concrete structure that connects to the wooden frame of the house. Ying has a thing for wood and wanted the house to be made entirely out of wood. However, a wooden bathroom just doesn't sound good so concrete was the next best option.

One of the legs of the foundation as seen on Saturday. In the pictures below, you'll see that the foundation developed a lot between Saturday and yesterday when we saw it last.

The ceiling of the bedroom is looking up to standards. It's not entirely done but it's almost there.

The bedroom still has a bit more to go but it's almost complete enough to call it home.

The foundation for the bathroom is seen here from the second floor of the house. Compare this picture with the updated pictures we took yesterday. Scroll down to see the pictures from yesterday.

The ceiling of the roof on the deck is coming together nicely as well. Compare the triangular part where the front of the deck meets the side of the deck in this picture with a photo from yesterday of the contractor filling in that triangular area with little planks of wood.

The Housemaster

I like how unready we seem for the photo. It was a shot before the pose. I like candid photos.

It's the Pink Beaming Sun.

This is a picture from Saturday. We packed up a bunch of boxes and got them ready to go. In fact, a lot of these boxes were moved to the new location already.

This is a picture I took a few minutes before sitting down to write this blog post today. Many of the boxes and things from the previous photo were already moved and a new cast and crew of boxes have replaced them by now. Most of this is Ying's work as she has been working to pack up much more industriously than I have. Thankfully, she takes mercy on me as I retire after about an hour of two of packing up and cleaning.

Yesterday, we made another trip to the house and this time, there were some significant developments to the bathroom. We moved boxes, ate lunch at a nearby county restaurant, and helped Ying's mom move a bedframe and mattress up to the third floor of their home in the centre of Rattapoom. Once we got home, we both felt finished; no more energy to do anything else. We put on some Thai stand-up comedy and chilled easy.

We were initially planning to be moved out of the current house by the end of the month. However, we've decided to push it forward and leave by next Monday. The constructor building the bathroom will lend us his pickup truck and two of his workers on Monday the 24th for us to move all the appliances and larger items. This doesn't mean that we will move into the house in Rattapoom as the mystery move in between moves will take place first.

This view shows the side of the house with part of the bathroom's foundations being built. You can see the metal beams reaching from beneath the soil and reaching up to the second floor of the house. The contractor in charge of the bathroom is standing in front.

The contractor in charge of the wooden mainframe of the house is measuring each individual little plank of wood and cutting it to fit that triangular area where the front of the deck meets the side of the deck.

Here is the updated foundation on the bathroom. There has been a lot of changes since Saturday. This is the view from the second floor.

I'm Blue

The ceiling below the roof on the deck is coming together nicely towards completion.

The green of the garden hits you even before you get outside on the deck. When you look out of the windows shown in this photos, it's completely green outside. All that greenery even adds a green hue to my blue shirt, making it tealish.
