Indonesian Food Party

The past week has been a constant orchestration, coordination, and accumulation of ever-changing plans with travellers. First Ferhat abi came. He comes from the same province as my mother's side of the family in Turkey. He's from the capital city of the province which is Antakya. And my family lives in Iskenderun. Both are in the southern-most province of Hatay. Ferhat abi didn't stay the night but we had a very exciting and continuous conversation for the few hours that he stopped at my Couchsurfing Central Station.

Before coming, Ferhat abi had told me that he met Tibor while staying at the same Couchsurfing host in Ipoh. I like these cooperative incidences.

I couldn't host him because I had promised another traveller, Joshua, the couch already. He ended up going to a small village less than an hour away from the city to stay with another host and her family. And I had actually told Joshua I probably couldn't host him at first because Tibor had planned to come on the same day. But that day I got a message from Tibor saying that he will postpone one day - a pattern that repeated for the following three days. It worked out for Joshua because he could stay here for his whole time in Hatyai. Tibor ended up staying here on Saturday night before leaving the following morning.

On Joshua's second night here, we were invited by some Indonesian friends of mine for a Food Party. Arul, also a couchsurfer living in Hatyai, was hosting a pair of cyclists. The cyclists are travelling from the Netherlands and on their way to Indonesia. They are also raising money to support local organizations and accepting donations too. Here is their site with much more information. Check it out soon because they told me that the site is going down.

This part of dinner was in the dark as we waited for about an hour for electricians to come turn the lights back on.

Arul is taking photos with the two globetrotting cyclists. Joshua, in yellow, isn't actually taking a photo of the triad. He's making a selfie video!

This Dutch and Indonesian couple recorded us as we read from this book. Can you guess which book it is?

Cooking some spicy Indonesian food. The bhagwan was delicious.

A long-arm selfie.

Arul created a circle around him with his sound.
