Atypical Breakfast at Lunchtime

Today's breakfast was a bit later than usual and also there was mantı soup which babaanne specifically made for her older sister who was experiencing stomach aches. There were two types of börek which can be seen at the centre of the table. Cheese and lentils were the two featured flavours of the börek. At the top left corner, there's a little pan with chard roots. And then, you have the olives and cucumbers as always. The cucumbers are dressed in olive oil and vinegar as usual. At the centre of the börek - mantı - cucumbers - and olives intersection sits the cream which wasn't a regular up until a few days ago when Soner amca brought it over. The lentil börek was the highlight of the first meal of the day. This was not a typical Turkish breakfast, especially with the mantı being there.

This is the first time I remember breakfast being served for only four people in this household. Baba was out of town, taking his friend's father to the hospital. And my younger sibling Nazar, aka Zuko, was waiting in Copenhagen for a flight back to Canada. We had brought Zuko to the airport late last night.
