The Staircase Is Under Development

Yesterday, we went to the house once again. Ying had to meet the person delivering the doors for the house. And she wanted to inspect the developments in the construction. The project manager is a bit messy, throwing his garbage anywhere he wants and whatnot. Instant coffee packets and Coke bottles were all over both floors and the yard. I'd been wanting to help clean up some of the garbage around the house so I took it as an opportunity to do so.

Ying also wants to make sure the guy isn't doing a half-assed job. She suspects him of cutting corners here and there and so she wants to visit the house regularly to make sure it's all coming along well. As for me, it gives me an opportunity to document progress being made for the blog. We stopped by at her brother's house as well for a bit where we ate some Chinese noodles(ขนมจีน).

I enjoyed cleaning up the trash around the house. It's quite an effective meditation. However, one needs to focus on the present moment and activity at hand. The moment you start thinking about the source of the garbage, the idiots chronically littering, and when people will ever learn is the moment you lose power. Negativity clogs the perception channels and you need to let it all go and focus on nature in order to be present again.

The stairway looks good. It's partially complete. It's now easy to jump down from the deck upstairs onto the platform that's halfway between floors. Another few days and the whole thing should be done.

Ying invited the lady who delivered the doors to be in the photo as well.

I just looked up this word in English actually. In Thai it's called a Jua (จั่ว). It's the side panel of the roof, the triangular end of it. Apparently it's called a 'gable end' or 'gable wall' in English. It's completed and looks pretty good. Ying says it's in the style of the old Thai capital, Krung Sri Ayutthaya(กรุงศรีอยุธยา).

Don't think about where the garbage came from or who's responsible for it. It's not that those things are irrelevant - they are valid things to wonder. However, it doesn't help your mindstate one bit. You're just one step away from letting it all go and being filled with clarity, presence, and focus. Meditate.

Action-non-action, or Wu Wei, is what it takes. Although there is activity, you're not the doer. You're the observer allowing the actions to flow through you. And if you do your best not to think during this, then all the better.
